This exhibition marks the th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death by celebrating how his works have come to life through innovations in print technology, editorial practice, and graphic design. Books and printing artifacts drawn from Special Collections’ eclectic holdings will explain the technology of printed books in the 17th century, narrate the complex.

In this exhibition, inspired by the publication of David Scott Kastan's Shakespeare & The Book (Cambridge University Press, September, ) the Shakespeare first folio is on display not only with Columbia's copies of the other three 17th century Shakespeare folios.

All four are shown within the context of the 17th century English printed play, along with copies of works known to. Jonathan Bate is Provost of Worcester College, was formerly Professor of Shakespeare and Renaissance Literature at the University of Warwick.
